Dear Colleagues,

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, we have decided to extend the postponement of in-person events for another year, this includes International Symposium of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (SOFAS). Doing so puts us in line with the Turkish Ministry of Health guidelines for gatherings and other events. We are also making this decision in consultation with our board members and partner institutions, which are also re-examining their timelines.

It is important to note that, we are seeking to ensure that we protect our community by following effective techniques to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. We strongly believe nothing can quite replace the unique benefits of face-to-face gatherings.

The symposium of SOFAS 2021 (International Symposium on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences) which was set to be held from 25 to 27 May at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center Trabzon, Turkey this year, has officially been postponed to a later date (will be announced after confirmation) considering the continuous Covid-19 situation all around the world, with precautions in terms of travelling, social distance and other quarantine conditions. We have decided as an emergency measure to postpone the SOFAS 2021 symposium after consultation with our colleagues and partners.

We are terribly sorry for this situation. In view of safety measures and well being of our participants as well as proper coverage of the symposium, we believe it was the best decision to make. We hope it will not be an inconvenience.
